Apple Country Head Start Program Philosophy

We believe that…

  • Family involvement is the key to a child’s success
  • Parents are the first and most important resource for learning in a child’s life
  • Parents and staff should work together to provide a safe and positive learning environment
  • The prepared environment is clean, neat, safe, and motivates self-initiated learning
  • The wish to learn should be nurtured in every child
  • Children learn best through exploration and play. “ children learn by doing”
  • Each family, each child, each person regardless of race or culture will be an accepted and welcomed part of the program
  • Apple Country Head Start should provide a sense of belonging to all participants
  • Individual needs of each child will be recognized and supported. Individualization is an integral part of the program. Children with special needs are welcomed.
  • Children learn best when their physical, health and nutritional needs are met
  • Children learn best when they feel safe and secure
  • Every family has strengths and needs and should be offered resources to enable them to meet their needs. Parents should be enabled through assistance with their own educational and social needs.
  • The community has a part in providing family resources and enrichment programs for children
  • Apple Country Head Start is strongest when parents have an actual part in the classrooms and in conducting the business of the centers.

Based upon these beliefs we are committed to conducting a quality Head Start program the will allow for the success of all participants.
